process(ed) captures the artistic process of Laura Payeur + Monica Panzarino while creating a piece of electronic music called “cute one” that appears on their sophomore album, demo liberation n*stuff. From 2001 to 2002, while upperclasswomen at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, the pair collaborated on hundreds of hours of improvised electronic music. They made three albums; all recorded live, with no post-production mixing, editing, or effects. process(ed) is made in the same way: the image is processed in real-time using a Dave Jones Frame Buffer. The result is a series of repetitive movements that mirror the sound, and documentation of Payeur’s and Panzarino’s collaboration. Sadly, that collaboration was cut short, as Payeur was killed in a car accident in Thorndike, Maine in March 2003. She was 24 years old.
